I was walking along the beach in Narrawallee on the NSW South Coast when I came across the body of a dead cicada. It was almost perfect. I picked it up and took it home, where it sat on my desk for several years.
Eventually I decided to photograph it before it became too damaged, and from there I started playing around in photoshop. The obvious next step was to make a screen print of it!
Once its split into four channels the colour combinations are almost endless.
The final print used silver, gold, burgundy and black on a cream paper stock.
